James Monroe Middle School has an Astronomy club with Ms. Manfredi in room E-106 from 3:15-4:15 on Thursdays. In the club Ms. Manfredi is teaching the students about the study of the constellations and the phases of the moon. The students in the club went to the Planetarium for a field trip to observe black holes. The students also observed our solar system and our local planets. The students studied the NASA launches and space expeditions.
The activities that the Astronomy Club has done are the students made Oreo cookie moon phases, marshmallow constellations, a chalk solar system. The Astronomy Club went on a field trip. The Astronomy Club does trivia games that Ms. Manfredi makes.
Kaylee Seligman a seventh grader at JMMS says she likes astronomy club. “ The activities that we do are interactive and the videos that Ms. Manfredi shows us are interesting.” In the Astronomy Club the students nailed letters to NASA. Unfortunately next year JMMS will not have an Astronomy Club.
