Recently, the JMMS counselors went into student classrooms to discuss the importance of anti-bullying and what sexual harassment is. The students received papers with tips and advice on the problem. Students also had a discussion on self harm; counselors passed out suicide lines to the students if they ever need it for help. The counselors encourage, you as parents to check up on your student and ask them if everything is okay at school. If your child has been bullied, sexually harassed, or has other problems going on then please contact the school counselors.

This year the school is suffering, after receiving a grade D. This happened because of PARCC scores, the scores were so low it affected the school and students, In classrooms teachers are doing a 'RACE' question, to help improve the PARCC scores. The school is coming up with other ways to help students. It was reported by many teachers, that the students were not focused during the test. The JMMS staff has presented a solution to this problem, the solution is this years PARCC testing will be in block schedule. For example, if the student had math during second period then the student would only take the math PARCC in that class with that teacher. As a school we want to be the best we can be.
