On March 21st 2018 a very important event event happened for James Monroe's student council. The even, called Drop the Mic, was hosted at Monzano High School. Here students competed in battles.with other schools to win the tittle for best roll call in the middle and high school levels. "A roll call is sort of like where every middle school shows a cheer that they have been working on. They also try to prove that they have the most school spirit.." Said student student council president, Oriana Olmstead, when asked to describe what a roll call is. James Monroe chose to create their two roll calls to the songs Survivor and Jumpin' by Destiny's Child. These two roll calls resulted in Monroe's victory over the other schools that attended the conference.
After the student's victory, James Monroe and every other school who attended the meeting all left for Main Event. At Main Event, the students got to take part in many activities and socialize with each other or meet other students from other schools for the first time. Together the students created many new memories that would stay with with them for their whole lives. "The best part was finishing up the year with all my good friends in Student Council." said 8th grade student Jared Trueba. For all the 8th grade students in student council this was their final meeting before moving on to high school and leaving their mark on the school they represented.
