This month James Monroe Middle School will be hosting the Giving Tree this year for the JMMS student that need a little help. The Giving Tree will be displayed in the front of the school, outside the Counseling Office. There are tags on the tree that say what a JMMS student wants for Christmas. Families may take one of the tags off the tree and purchase the item. Then they will return the unwrapped present and bring it to the front counseling office.
It is important to know that when a tag is taken families have the responsibility of purchasing the item and bringing, the item to school by the due date. That date is Tuesday December 18th,2018 the unwrapped item must be given to the counselors, Mrs. Barbour or Ms. Anglada. If there are any questions? Contact the front office or the counselors office at (505) 897 0101 and 897-0101x40810, 897-0101x40809.
The families are chosen for the Giving Tree through emails, that gets sent to the counselors of the families request. Counselors take all the request from the families, that gets put on a list for the Giving Tree. Mostly families ask for school supplies and things that a student might need. Children mostly ask for coats, shoes, toys and clothing. The pricing range for gifts should be about $20 to $30 dollars, for one of are JMMS students gifts.
Mrs.Barbour says “James Monroe community really step up and help kids in need and it's really awesome to see that.”
