The new semester starts off with the girls' basketball season. On January 14th, 15th, and 16th tryouts for the girls' basketball teams took place. Eighth-grade tryouts were on January 14th and 15th. Seventh-grade tryouts were on January 14th, 15th, and 16th. And sixth-grade tryouts were on January 15th and 16th. There were a total of forty-five girls that tried out and only twenty-four made the teams. There are twelve girls on both A-team and B-team. Girls have to have a 2.0 or higher to make the team.
A and B-team both had their first game on January 23rd, against Tony Hillerman. There both teams took their first loss. Their next home game is on February 11, against Desert Ridge. They have had a total of five games. Three of which are home games and two were away games. The teams are coached by both coach Skinner and coach Garcia.
“ I like playing with my team-mates. And I like the game,” said Gabrielle Flores one of the girls on B-team.
